How Much Does It Cost To Care 4 A Dog?
I already calculated the price for all of the supplies. The total was $130.97 which included, food/water bowl, toys, brush, nail clipper, shampoo, treats, food, leash, harness, dog tooth brush, dog litter & litter box (because we live in an apartment and our patio is all cement) and a crate.
I’m gonna feed the puppy Wellness puppy food.
I plan on adopting it from a shelter which I estimate will be probably $100-200. $40 a month for apartment pet fees.
How much do you think the shots and annual check ups will be?
I live in San Diego, California if that helps.
And do you think I’m ready for a dog? I’m actually still in middle school lol..

It’s going to be a toy breed. I will walk it in the morning, after school, and a short walk at night.
It won’t be exactly a walk. I would be taking him outside the front of my house where he can walk & run around a little. It won’t be a long walk. I’ll walk it after school.

Your annual shots and check up will probably cost about $150. Don’t forget to add in year-round heartworm prevention. This will be critical for you to keep up with, as you live in an area that never gets cold enough to kill off mosquitos. This can cost anywhere from $10-20 a month, depending on the size of your dog and the type of preventative used.
It might also be wise to either purchase pet health insurance or put aside a set amount into a savings account each month as a contingency fund for unexpected illnesses or accidents.
